The children had great fun on Pirate Day! We came to school dressed as pirates ready for the day. We learned lots about pirates from our special pirate visitor. We also had a great time watching the pirate puppet show and then after lunch we got to make our own pirate puppet.
Check out some of our pictures below.
Today we have had lots of fun dressing up as our favourite book characters. There was lots of variety in the books that we all enjoy.
We looked at some of the books written by Julia Donaldson including her stories of Zog, The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and Superworm. We even created our own book reviews based on these stories.
Take a look at some of our costumes!
In class 5 this afternoon we have been carrying out an investigation in science. We have been investigating materials and their properties. We tested different materials to find out if they were strong, transparent or waterproof.
We began by making predictions about which materials we thought had which properties and gathered the equipment we needed.
We then had fun carrying out the experiments to see if our predictions were correct.
After testing the materials we wrote our conclusions about whether our predictions we correct.
In year 2 we had a special visit from “Drumroots” who came to school to teach us how to play an African Drum. They brought 50 Djembe drums to school and we learnt a few songs and how to play them. The children had a fantastic day! Have a look at our pictures below.
